IPD Offers Comprehensive Systems Reviews to External Clients
IPD has offered Comprehensive Systems Reviews to all of its partner institutions since the early '90s -- more than 50 reviews in all.
A site visit by a team of experienced Institute for Professional Development staff is followed by a written analysis which identifies program strengths, best practices and possible areas for improvement.
Information is gathered through a variety of methods, including student, staff and faculty interviews, policy and process review, staffing, organizational structure and data analysis, and primary and secondary research.
Recently, IPD expanded its Higher Education Services to offer the Comprehensive System Review (CSR) to non-partner institutions, with Moody Bible Institute's Distance Learning program as its first external client. Moody Bible, located in Chicago, is celebrating its 125th anniversary and has three core ministries: education, publishing and broadcasting.
MBI's Distance Learning program's goal is to become "the best online option for students wishing to earn a ministry-related degree" and the review team's focus was to assist in moving MDL toward its goal.
The IPD review team met with Moody Distance Learning staff members, faculty members, and students in June. The review team was composed of IPD's:
- Robert Barnes, Director of Academic and Institutional Services;
- Jim Berry, Director of Technology;
- Deanna Boe, Executive Director of Academic and Institutional Services;
- Teresa Corno, Director of Compliance;
- Mary Harken, Associate Vice President of Marketing and Advertising;
- Yvette Harrold, Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management;
- Mark McCain, Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness; and,
- Tina Rodgers, VP/Director of Operations at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The team made a follow up visit to Chicago to deliver the final report to Moody's President, Executive Cabinet and Vice Presidents under the leadership of Dr. Sue Salter Dietrich, IPD's Vice President for Academic and Institutional Services. "Your team has demonstrated their competence, professionalism and concern in serving MBI well," said Dr. William Blocker, MDiv, DMin., Moody's VP/Dean | Educational Services.
