IPD provides financial and instructional design support for adult program curriculum development. Initially, the partner institution selects qualified faculty to develop the content of the course modules. IPD trains and develops the faculty to create course content in the adult learning model and contracts with those faculty members to develop the partner institution's course module. Once the courses are created, IPD supports ongoing revision. As part of the curriculum development process, IPD will do the following:
- Edit, format, and proof the course modules.
- Maintain master files of the curriculum materials.
- Maintain records of the course creations and revisions.
- Send monthly reports to each partner institution, outlining the curriculum activity for that month.
In addition, IPD maintains a library of syllabi for the courses it has formatted for partner institutions. The course syllabi are housed on a secure Web site, and access is available to curriculum personnel currently employed at IPD partner institutions. Partner institutions wishing to create a new course may search the library of syllabi and request a sample module, reducing the length of time typically required to develop a program and/or course content.
Another service is provided through the Curriculum Commission of the Consortium for the Advancement of Adult Higher Education (CAAHE). The role of the commission is to serve CAAHE members in an advisory capacity for issues related to curriculum. The commission serves as a forum to identify and discuss common issues; to facilitate sharing of innovative ideas, information, techniques, practices, and resources; and to provide networking and professional growth opportunities.
The last curriculum development service that IPD provides is the Curriculum Coordinator Certification Training (CCCT) tutorial. This tutorial is self-paced, online training for newly hired academic and curriculum services staff of IPD partner institutions. In addition, each partner institution works directly with a designated editor, providing a point of contact for all curriculum questions and needs.
Please contact an IPD representative for more information or to register for the online training.
